The
Avo Playhouse is available for rent year round. It is a fully equipped
performance venue (lighting and sound systems) with a 382 seat auditorium,
an elevated stage, and back stage dressing rooms with restrooms.
The Avo also features a concession bar and large restrooms in the
lobby.
Built in 1948 as a
neighborhood movie house, the Avo Playhouse was purchased by the
City of Vista and elegantly restored to accommodate live performances
in 1995. Annually over forty thousand people participate or are
entertained at the Avo. Several dance companies and children's theatre
organizations grace the stage regularly as does "Moonlight
at the Avo," a winter season of plays and musicals produced
by Moonlight Stage Productions. The Avo is also a community service
facility hosting city-sponsored gatherings, social service organization
meetings, and school graduations.

The
Moonlight Amphitheatre is an open air venue, available for rent
in the spring and fall, weather permitting. The amphitheatre features
899 permanent seats with lawn seating for about 1200 and a large
stage and back stage area. There is also a spacious covered patio
area with adjoining restrooms.
For over twenty years
the Moonlight Amphitheatre has been the summer site of critically
acclaimed regional theatre produced by Moonlight Stage Productions.
It's manicured lawns overlook lush Brengle Terrace Park and make
the amphitheatre an ideal setting for church services, concerts,
corporate gatherings, and receptions.

Rental Rates
The
Avo Playhouse and the Moonlight Amphitheatre rent by the hour. This
hourly rate varies dependent upon the status of the renting organization
or individual (i.e. profit or non-profit, resident or non-resident).
Please call the Facilities Manager for your hourly rate quote.
Load-ins,
rehearsals, and strikes are discounted at 50% of the quoted hourly
rate.
Support
Staff: A Facility Supervisor/Technician (included in the rental
rate) will be onsite for all uses of the facility. Additional technical
staffing required for an event is available for an additional fee.
Security staffing is
required at all events that involve the consumption of alcoholic
beverages. Security staffing must be scheduled through the City
of Vista.

General Information
Applications:
Rental
application materials for either venue may be downloaded by clicking

or obtained calling (760) 726-1340 ext. 1525. Our ticketing service, VisTix, is available to assist you. Click HERE for information.
Once the application
materials have been completed and returned, the fee category will
be determined and the facility use permit will be issued. For a

Deposit
Requirement:
A
$1000 security deposit must accompany the facility use application.
This deposit is required to ensure proper clean up after an event
and to cover the costs of any necessary replacement, repairs, damages
or loss to the facility or equipment. Renters will be required to
pay the full cost of materials, labor, replacement, repairs or damages
over and above the deposited funds. If damages occur that are less
than the deposited amount, the difference will be refunded within
fourteen days of the event. All deposits will be refunded in full
if proper clean up is completed and no damage occurs.
Insurance
Requirement:
Renters shall provide
a one million dollar insurance certificate comprehensive general
liability naming the City of Vista as additionally insured with
a 30-day notice of cancellation. Special Event insurance can be
purchased through the City of Vista. For information contact the
Facility Manager.

Additional Information
Promotional
Material:
A
marquee and showcases are available to renters at the Avo Playhouse
at no additional charge. A Marquee Use Request Form can be completed
and submitted to the Facility Manager at the time of application.
All advertising material can be posted with prior consent of the
Facility Manager.
Concessions:
Avo
Playhouse: The sale of food, beverages and other merchandise
during an event can be facilitated in the concessions area. For
health and safety purposes, only store-bought, individually wrapped
foods or foods prepared in a county certified kitchen may be served.
All concession sales, taxes, applicable permits, licenses are the
responsibility of the renter.
Moonlight
Amphitheatre: All food and beverage sales or catering services
must be arranged through Feliccia's Under The Moonlight at (760)
726-2057 or (760) 758-9167.
Alcohol:
The
sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages at the Avo requires a
license and prior written approval of the Director of Parks and
Community Services. In addition, a $50 fee is charged and a City
Ranger must be present. All servers must attend the A.B.C. "Responsible
Server Training" class and comply with all State laws, City
policies, and A.B.C. regulations. Alcohol sales at the amphitheatre
are supervised by Feliccia's Under The Moonlight.
VisTix
Ticketing Services:
Box Office and Ticketing
services are provided at both performance venues by VisTix at 651
East Vista Way in Vista. VisTix assures renters an over-the-counter
service Tuesday through Saturday as well as ticket purchases over
the phone, and online ticket services at www.vistixonline.com. For more information
