Moonlight Stage Productions, an award-winning regional musical theater, is located in the North San Diego suburb of Vista, California. Moonlight Stage Productions offers Broadway musicals under the stars during the summer months in the Moonlight Amphitheater and a diverse line-up of comedies, dramas and small-scale musicals during the winter months in the Avo Playhouse.

Stephen Sondheim’s ground-breaking musical experience is laced with brilliant wit and dark humor. Centering on Sweeney Todd’s return to London after fifteen years of false imprisonment, the musical boldly displays his quest for justice and retribution. Aided and abetted by the pie-shop owner, Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney sets out to avenge the wrong doings done to him and his family. Set in the 19th century, the Tony Award-winning musical bowed on Broadway in 1979 and is generally regarded as Sondheim’s most beautiful and ingeniously crafted score. This thrilling and heart-pounding show has enjoyed a recent Broadway revival and a retelling in the Tim Burton film version. Sweeney Todd is recommended for mature audiences.
